Hi,

I'm just about to begin work on my second telescope project and would like to narrow down my choices with the following questions:

-Which would produce better quality images: 1)An 8" f/5 using a 10mm eyepiece with a 2x barlow lens -or- an 8" f/10 using only a 10mm eyepiece? (For the sake of this comparison, assume that the mirrors, eyepieces, and barlow lens are of the highest quality)

-For those that are anti-barlow, I'll change the scenario to include an 8" f/5 with a 5mm eyepiece vs. an 8" f/10 with a 10mm eyepiece.

I ask this because I'm trying to find a happy medium between a relatively wide field of view and the ability to magnify with clarity when necessary. IF the f/5 scope produces better quality at lower powers, at what magnification point does the f/10 overtake the f/5 in quality?

Thanks!

Mark
