Fibreglass Tube

I have finished the mirror for an 8" F8. What I would like to know is whether it is possible to construct a fibreglass or carbon fibre tube with a thickness of 3-5mm. Will a fibreglass tube be rigid enough for this application? or will carbon fibre be better, or should I just look at Aluminium?

Thanks in advance
