Gavin, You have probably finished your scope by now but I just started posting. Yes A carbon tube can be made in the 3-5mm range. That would actually be rather thick for your needs, about 2mm woud be strong enough to withstand a lot of abuse. I sideline for a company making carbon parts, all kinds not just tubes. I could check on prices for you if you e-mailed some dimensions for your OTA. Bill J
