I am building a equatorial mount for a 10 inch newt f/6, does anyone know if there is a standard formula for minimum shaft diameter and legnth for ra and dec? I have a 6 inch dia pier flanged at one end, cast iron 3 inch T and Y plumbing parts,
and a 1.5 inch solid steel rod 6 ft long that needs to be machined.
