ok..I do want to eventually do a mirror in the 20" area. I've read that slower speeds were preferred for larger mirrors.

We're in the country up here, and we are looking to scrounge up a reducer 20:1 or so, from some friends(about $200 new) and I will shaft it to the motor, then run my belts to the spindle's pullys.

The spindles I was thinking of using were 1" cold rolled steel..(new $25 for 6 feet)

Now that you've mentioned it, I thinking, (and it did cross my mind before) if they shoudn't be heavier 1 1/2" or 2".
I was going to get them thursday so I think I will make the adjustment and go with 1 1/2"...thanks
