am interested in pyrex. As i want something thick that wont sag. I have contacted everyone here in australia. The thickest glass that is produced here is 25mm thick (1"). This is way too thin.
But im not fussy. I dont really care how much it ways as it is going into an observatory. (though i bet i wont say that when i see the cost of freight!!). i sent a inquiry email to Newport and got this reply
---------------------------------------------
The cost of a plano/plano 40 inch diameter Pyrex plate approximately 2" to 2.125" thick, fine annealed is $3,245.00

Currently, we are not set up to generate mirrors larger than 36 inches.
------------------------------------------------

i am a little baffled here? they say that they cannot generate a mirror larger than 36", but they gave me a price for the pyrex plate. Does this mean they can supply me with a raw unfinished blank?

is that a good price????

Kind Regards

Duane Reilly
