Thanks for a good response to a question that I have wondered about for a while. I understand now a bit better about XEphem's philosophy.

But, I have another question:

How does XEphem benefit from "the excellent proper motion information of the Tycho mission"? When I right-click on a Tycho star, I don't see any proper motion data, therefore I presume that the PM data is used to calculate the apparent position at the epoch of the display. Is this correct?
