Our sun will probably already have underwent old-age changes by the galactic merge" and THAT would mean more to any decendants resembling us than the off chance of a VERY slow solar collision.

...On a somewhat odder thought..What if our galaxy does have a huge "Black Hole" at the center as many speculate?......THAT might change the picture a little.
