Bright Green Ball?

Did any one see a bright green ball in the sky about 2/3 the size of the moon flying in a north westerly path at about 9:52pm over Whitby, or Ajax on August 1, 2001?
It was a beautiful lime green shade, very large ball, flying quietly and faster then any Jet.
It looked as if it was going to hit the ground about 40 to 60 km north west of Ajax. I was waiting to hear a large crash but did not hear anything. It was also viewed by a friend of mine. We ran to the road minutes later but saw nothing.
I've been asking around if any one else had seen any thing similar but to no avail.
