Ony according to books written 20+ years AFTER the event. The first press release by Marcel, did indicate that they felt they MAY have found a crashed UFO.

Actually the Egyptians determined that the earth was round 5000 years ago. When Columbus made his voyage, there was no doubt that the earth was round. Eclipses probably verified it even before that. But we KNOW at least the Egyptians knew.

George Washinton Irving started that myth in the 1800's.

Really? How can you be so certain? Other than books that you may have read there is no evidence to support the claim.
