My favorite freeware is "Sky Charts" (Cartes du Ciel by Patrick Chevalley. It's a little quirky and takes some getting used to, but is the most comprehensive, flexible astro freeware I've found. Beats Orion's and Meade's stripped down, throw-in versions of "Where the Stars Are" and "Starry Nights" hands down... neither provides nearly enough detail. I also like it better than SkyMap Pro's free version. There are many catalogs of different objects ready to directly plug into Sky Charts including the entire GSC-ACT database! (Get this on CD from Project Pluto for $5)
