I imagine that anything with more intelligence than humans would probably know better than to reveal themselves to us. :)

The native americans greeted the European explorers with open arms and look where it got them. If there were more intelligent life in the universe, I would not be suprised if they had some kind of prime directive thing going on. If we ever discovered a developing primitive civilization, I'm not sure I would agree with humans interfering.
