Thanks for the help. Since I am new to this field it is important to know if I am heading in the wrong direction. I was unsure if I was misusing the stand.

If I polar align my eq stand will that help with some to the problems. Do I do so by pointing the polar shaft at the polaris star?

As I understand the procedure if I lock unto polaris than I do not move the polar/latitude dial. I than should be able to keep an object in view by moving the RA or Declination slow motion controls. Is this true....?

If so how do I bring in view objects that are higher than polaris?
