I recently saw a documentary regarding the ancient Maiian civilisation and their beliefs in the constellations and the cosmos.

The Narrator mentioned a particular mountain in either Mexico or Peru where a certain Nebulae was visible without the aid of a telescope.

Can anyone proide me with more infomation on either ; the documentary, the existance of such a place in Mexico/Peru or any Nebulae visible to the naked eye.

Thank you
