You know what I always say. Whe you go out observing (in the summer) the most improtant thing to bring is the telescope. Second is the bug spray.
Once you get up around 100x Mars (this year) will look real nice size. The white cap should be visible in almost any telescope. Last weekend we had a 6", 8" and 12" out observing. It looked great in all three. Good Luck.
