Nice angle to your report, Bob. We also had a couple of good nights with our 6" dob at the cottage. Highlights were watching the ISS cruise by; several bright meteors; the gossamer veil of The Milky Way; the reflections of Venus, and later the Teapot and Scorpius in still waters of the lake; our first sighting of the Dumbell Nebula, Ptolemy's cluster and Brocchi's Coathanger; and, finally, our first telescopic view of the Andromeda Galaxy and its 2 companions - ooh la la!
There was a bunch of other new items including spotting the small Messier and Messier A craters and the low impact trail that leads to them on the Moon, as well as some previously viewed M objects but my log is at home and I'm, er, not.
We also did some sunspotting and made a few sketches of the great groupings of spots we were treated that were present.
Next week we're going to Starfest so I've got high hopes of making another dent in my Messier list - we've (manually) nailed over 50 in our first 7 months so I'm trying to get them all by Christmas.

Clear skies.

Glenn
