| Modifying An ETX 90

My partner owns an ETX 90 spotting scope and although it provides very good terrestrial images, I have noticed that inadequate internal light baffling shows up as a lack of contrast when the scope is pointing in the general direction of the sun. Pointing north, the problem is not so bad, although the image could still be improved by better baffling. The inside of the baffle tube shines like a beacon when pointed toward a light source, and I am sure that if Meade had bothered to matt-black the inside of this tube, the problem may not exist. Has anyone had experience in dealing with this problem, or perhaps offer advice on further image-improving modifications? The warranty expired at least a year ago so there is no problem here. |
