Hi there,
I have an LX90 GPS that I purchased on 13 Oct 07.
Now that it’s a bit warmer, I am out in the evenings more, using and enjoying the scope.
However, I am noticing that the altitude (DEC) drive (in the right fork) is quite jerky once I’m centered on an object. The scope slews during alignment smoothly in both alt and azim, and the azimuthal tracking seems fine.
But, for example, while I am watching Saturn in the 26mm eyepiece, and expecially in the 11mm, the view will be jumping up and down about the diameter of Saturn every few seconds, and the drive was making some irregular noises.
It was as if the software was trying to keep the planet centered. I dunno. But it is pretty irritating.
I did a scope re-set and tried again, but the same problem persists. I don’t think this is normal.
I have looked into the manual and there doesn’t seem to be anything that addresses this (I’m not a real technically astute astronomer, just a backyard guy)
Do you have any suggestions?
