As far as I know optically both telescope are identicle, both using the smae tube ( in the LX 8 Inch)/ . The difference seems to be in the built in database which is far greater in the LX200 which has 64,359 objects in it, opposed to the LX90 autostar which has (only!) 30,000.
The LX 200 is recommended over the 90 for those who intend to do such things as deep-space observing, CCD imaging or astrophotogaphy.

My advive would be to go for the LX200 if you can afford it. If not the LX90 is still a beauty!
