LX200 Firmware Upgrade

Hello all -

I am the proud new owner of a used and gorgeous LX200 10" f/10. It is an older vintage with version 3.20 of the firmware. I was hoping to upgrade the firmware to version 3.34.

From what I have read, the jump from 3.20 to 3.34 consists of a couple of IC chips that need to replace for $150 (supposedly 2.50 --> 3.34 needs to replace the motherboard and keypad as well for $500).

I have talked to Meade directly 3x and have received different responses from them each time regarding the upgrade. When I first called to ask if the upgrade was available, I was told it was and that it would cost around $150. The second time I called to order the upgrade but the guy I talked to told me that the upgrade from 3.30 to 3.34 never existed so I would have to get the $500 upgrade. The third time I called I spoke to yet another person who told me that the upgrade kits did in fact exist but Meade does not carry them any more. I have called around a bit to see if by chance someone may have the upgrade chips stored away somewhere but to no avail.

So finally, here is my question:
Would any of you happen to know where I could get my hands on the v3.20-->v3.34 upgrade chips for an LX200?

I guess the next question would be is it worth it? From what I understand, v3.34 has a 64k object library, high precision pointing functionality and the moon as a goto object (v3.20 has 750 object lib, no HPP and no moon).

Thanks in advance,
-Joe
