Thank you both very much for your input. I wasn't going to even consider a SCT, but I am seriously considering one now.

I will probably go for the 8" SCT LXD55 with the equatorial mount, because it's all ready to go with no need for accessories (wedge).

Again, thanks a million for helping me decide on the best scope for my purposes.
