One nice perk with the LXD55 mount is the vey precise polar alignment possible.Standard equipment with the mount includes an illuminated(red, of course!)polar alignment scope built into the German Equatorial head. As well as incremental indicator dials and so forth. I have the LXD55 AR-5 refractor on this mount, and think it's a fine mount for it. I'm sure it would be for the 8" SN scope as well. From all indications the mount needs to be modified to handle anything larger. The site above has plans for such modifications in their file section free for the taking.
