I've had a lot of astronomy interest, but no participation, over the years. Now I'm looking forward to taking an early retirements sometime in the next couple of years, and am trying to figure out which scope is best for me. Meade's LX200 8" or 10"? Celestron's GPS 11"? But, realistically, what should I be looking at for a scope that one medium-sized guy can set up by himself? Oh, and I'd appreciate any other comparison comments. I'm far from having my mind made up.
The above message is also on the Celestron forum, and I guess I have a particular concern with the Meade models. I've been reading that there's a bolt that has to be positioned, making it tricky, and that the single handle on the 10" might be less ergonomically designed that the hand-holds on the Celestron. Any comments? Thanks.
