I can relate to your experience.
I am on my 4th LX200 scope (after 3 exchanges and 1 repair).
The GOTO accuracy is still way off.

You can send the scope to Meade but do not expect that it'll point better when you get it back after a month or more (based on my experience).
So, I wouldn't waste time on repairs, unless you have a serious mechanical problem.

I'd recommend to try this first:

1. Download and update Autostar (latest version is 1.2b, but this even one has some bugs).

2. Point the box towards South as accurately as possible. I know this should not make difference but one Meade tech told me it does.

3. Calibrate sensors never did any good for me, and I have a feeling that sometimes it made things worse.
If pointing is still bad, do [Reset] and skip calibrate sensors.

4. Watch for software bugs.
Certain sequence of events may cause the scope to start doing weird things.
If that happens, turn it off and on and then try a different sequence of slewing, focusing, etc.

M.M.
