Sure: First, you need to know what your viewing latitude is (eg: NYC is 41 degs.). There are several websites that can help u w/ this. You must set your latitude on the latitude scale by loosening the lat. knob lock (large black knob)and adjusting the lat. "fine tuning" knob (slightly smaller black knob). Tighten the lat. knob lock at your viewing lat. You must also know which way North is. Place the tripod leg with "N" on top to face North. Now place the scope (assume ETX 90) in the polar "home" position: tube pointing to Polaris (North star) - this star should be in your Northern sky if you are in the northern hemisphere - it`s at the end of the handle of the Little Dipper. I assume you are using the Autostar controller: now follow the instructions on the Autostar for polar alignment. Good luck! |
