Starfinder 16 Question
Forum List | Follow Ups | Post Message | Back to Thread Topics | In Response To Posted by Mark Todd on April 27, 2002 15:51:23 UTC |
I'm seriously thinking about upgrading my 8" Newt (an Orion SVD with an F/4 primary) to a Starfinder 16" Dob. Can anyone in this forum tell me a bit about experiences with this 'scope, especially for DSOs? For example, does it have the light-gathering capabilities and resolution to distinguish between, say, an Sa and Sc galaxy? With averted vision, my current Newt will pick out the occasional perfect-seeing wisps of very pronounced and bright galaxies, but I live in very dark, high-altitude rural skies, very optimal conditions, and want to go to the next level. I've decided to go for aperture rather than mount in order to stay in my budget. Any comments would be appreciated. |
