I'd Get The Meade

I received my 12" LX200 GPS in early March. I reserved it in September, and it seemed to take for ever for Meade to ship, but once it came, it was well worth the wait. I did considerable research before and after ordering. I could have bought the Celestron when I got on the waiting list for the Meade, but the Meade has alot more plusses than the Celestron. I would still get the Meade even if it was $2000 more than the Celestron. I used it a few nights ago to follow the International Space Station, while the Shuttle was docked to it. I hear this ability to track the ISS is a new feature of the GPS models, and I don't think the Celestrons are capable of this, except through third party software. Go to the Meade website, and check out their comparison between the LX200 and the Celestron 11 inch GPS scope.

I was a bit dissapointed though when my scope arrived and I found out the AC power adapter was an extra charge. They used to be included.

Bob
