Peter,

Based on what I have read and heard by talking to people (not based on first hand practical experience), if the Nikon D1 is a regular digital still camera, and not designed specifically for astro photography, it will not work with the LX90 or other scopes. Regular 35 mm SLR cameras will work with an adapter.

For use with a digital camera, one needs a special digital imager and digital camera specifically designed for the telescope that are connected to the rear of the LX90. Meade makes 2 models which you can find at meade.com and by at astronomics.com (and other vendors).

Hope that helps.

Take care,

Ralph Jugo
