Beginner Scope Choice: 8" Bushnell Or 12" Meade?

Hi All,

I have an opportunity to buy one of two scopes:

1. A 8" Bushnell Voyager Dob for $489 (South African price)with 25 mm eyepiece
2. A 12" Meade Dob for $1280 with 25 mm eyepiece

Is the difference in the scopes (quality, light gathering ability) worthwhile and should I simply get the bigger aperture?
