As a recent owner of an Autostar LX90, let me suggest the following:

1) level the tube with a small (torpedo) level found at hardware stores

2)use a compass to get close to north (also the north star should be high on your horizon due to being so far north

3) buy an inexpensive planisphere (carboard rotatable star guide that adjusts for time and date. Use the planisphere to verify the stars the autostar is picking

4) realize that the autostar will not be right on the alignement star. You may have to hunt for it a little bit.

5) once you have those two alignement stars selected then everything you want should come through the autostar
