3x Barlow

Unfortunatly, when you increase magnification you give up clarity and details. The more magnifications, the less the details and it becomes difficult to focus. With a 3x Barlow It's not suprising to have trouble focusing. 50 times the aperture is about max magnification on the clearest of nights. Usually you can't focus close to that. I'd stick with the eyepieces alone. That should give you a much better image. Also, I don't think, with a $200 telescope, they gave you a high quality Barlow. I've seen some Barlows go for well over $200 alone. The cheaper ones go for around $50.
