Hi Mike and Brett,

I bought a 10" LX200 at the end of August after a month of research on which scope to get. So far, the 10" has met all of my expectations and then some. The only negative feedback I would give on the 10" is the weight. The tube and fork mount weigh in at about 60 lbs (tripod ~20 lbs). Not too bad unless you need to go through multiple doorways (sidways) or will be setting up the telescope yourself. You will also end up building a case for the 10" (I haven`t found a good case yet), where the 8" has hard cases you can buy off the shelf.

Reliability has not been a problem for me at all. Once I align the scope to two stars (altaz mode), simply entering any Messier object into the keypad always put the object into view with the standard 26mm eyepiece (assuming the object was above the horizon). The tripod is _very_ sturdy.

One note about f ratio: My research included emailing users of the 10" for astrophotography, and their suggestions led me to the f/10 ratio instead of the f/6.3. Adding a focal reducer to the f/10 was a better solution than starting with the f/6.3.

If you have any other questions you can email me at ckgee@usa.net

Happy observing,
Clark
