I have found the meade 10 starfinder equatorial to be of poor contruction as far as the drive is concerned. I have had numerous problems with the drive slipping or the motor not turning properly. I am about at a breaking point with it. The wires on the aluminum block next to the fly wheel have broken now because of the tightness of everything in the motor housingI opted for the magellan II which made a total cost, also having to by a different focuser because of its totally poor construction (Plastic!!!!!)of about $2000.00. I won't make this mistake again you can bet on that.
