i currently have a ds-114 with the #495 autostar.

from what i understand form the talking tele. the mirrors are the same, the eyepieces arn`t that good, but from my own experience they work, as for the autostar, i have yet to get it to work well, but that may be just me.

i hooked my webcam to it and snapped some pictures of the moon, but i`ll tell you i spent $429.00 for what i got, for a little more could have got a 6" or 8" dob..
check out orions web site ( telescope.com )
and discovery telescopes both offer a range of scopes with resonable prices, no goto but better scopes.

you almost have to be a tinkerer to like the ds line, that may be part of the challenge
