Joel, on a new scope there should be no 'flaws' as such.In this context I am talking obvious scratches. The small bits of dust etc are common on ALL scopes. If you examine an optical surface using a flash light you will always see them. However the defect and the dust between the lenses should be looked at. This is a new scope and you should have peace of mind, hope this helps.
