Someone once said that it may be our purpose on this world not to worship God, but to create him. This is similar to Voltaire when he said something to the effect of: If there were no God it would be necessary to invent him. Any thoughts on this kind of logic?
I think it has a certian merit to it, in that as humans I think we need to believe in an ultimate power. Virtually every culture in the world throughout history has believed in a higher power. Is this because it exists, or simply because we need it to exist?
