What God do you place your faith in? The God of Islam? Christianity? Judaism? Jupiter? Zeus? Zoroaster?

Which is more likely: that your trust is founded upon truth, with a loving, caring God, or your religion, like all the rest, is a form of psychotherapy?

You mentioned trust in your wife. That's not a totally valid example. You got to know your wife, had tangible proof of her love, and willingly volunteered for marraige. Do you have any proof of God's love beyond the good feeling your faith provides you with?

A good example, true, an extremely overused one, but a good one nonetheless, is Santa. His myth makes children feel good about themselves since Santa cares about them enough to give them gifts, faith in Santa is neccesary to keep that good feeling going so children believe in him despite no tangible proof other than the presents.

Sure, belief in Santa is fun when you're young, but do you regret having learned the truth?
