Any discovery of any sort that you hear (i.e. finding distant supernovas) somehow reinforces your beliefs. Just because the universe's expansion rate is increasing is not a defense for Islam, in the same way it is not a defense for Atheism. I use more specific, coherent arguments for that. It's easy to say "Look at that mysterious, repulsive force! Praise Allah!" but bear in mind that the "scientific" information you present here is inherently neutral, and in no way defends your beliefs.
