The Orthodox take the Torah to be literal truth. Therefore the world is only 6,000 years old and it was created in 6 days, and so on. The Reform, which is the original or historical branch, more like the trunk with orthodox and conservatives branching off, do not take the Torah to be literal truth, but rather what a bunch of Rabis wrote down some 2,000-3,000 years ago. The conservatives are presumably in between these two extreme positions. So there is a wide spectrum of belief among jews. It is not just a matter of intensity.
