Aurino,

First, I'm not in favor of returning insults back to Dick. He is a very intelligent man but for whatever reason he hasn't developed the necessary etiquette. I'm sure he can if he is able to see the need to do so.

In any case, I guess I am not understanding both you or Dick as to why there is a problem. From my perspective this answer is buried in the fossil record and we see how that answer was gradually answered over 4 billion years. There was no dramatic moment when sentient creatures had no knowledge of the world and suddenly had knowledge. The first life forms had some primitive mechanisms for sensory inputs and much later these mechanisms evolved to allow much more sophisticated sensory inputs. Darwinism and possibly a theory of self-organization and complexity provide a great deal of the answers (at least they get us far enough along the right track that we can clearly see how the answers to this epistemological question are answerable).

No need to evoke CS/SC or whatever. Science is very helpful in this issue. Of course, perhaps I'm approaching this problem much too simplistically. Show me how I am doing that (without calling me an idiot- *smile*).

Warm regards, Harv
