Helium Flash.

Is not helium flash completely undetectable because the inner star explosion is completely damped by thick outer H layer of the star?

So, do you guess that the star underwent He flash, or there are some experimental evidences of this (like neutrino flash, or damped surface oscillations, or something else leaking from star's interior as a direct consequence of He flash)?
