I take it you were raised Christian...

Not in the least. In fact, my Father was a physicist who went into private industry as an engineer. He lived anything but a Christian life, and I can remember going to church a couple times in my life as a child. In fact, I really didn't start thinking much about things spiritual until entering college as a young teen (around 14). If anything, I was "raised" a card-carrying athiest, as was fairly common in physics circles at that time.

I became a Christian at the age of 29, some 10 years after leaving professional Astronomy. I actually love science and still dabble in astronomy (I am taking a CCD image of a star that has undergone a "helium flash" as I write this). I find exploration of the universe as exciting as I did in my youth.

I will address your second point regarding my faith in my next message. For now, I need to get back to telescope and see how my LRGB image came out.

Russ
