Remember, how many gods ancient people had - they put them behind each and every unknown to them phenomena. Then, as they learned more about nature, number and powers of gods shrank. What was yesterday Ra (or Apollo) driving Sun across the sky was eliminated by noticing that Earth is rotating. So, where is now that God (Ra) ? History discarded him as incorrect explanation. Where is Zeus? Discarded as incorrect explanation of thunder making. Where is biblical god which made Adam "by his image" and Eve out of Adam's rib? Discarded afer learning more about origin of human.

Where is God pushing planets to revolve around Sun? Discarded by Newton's discovery of Sun's gravitational pull. Where is the god creator of all we see? Discarded after discovery of expanding universe and Big Bang. Where is the god who pressed the Big Bang button so to speak? Discarded (or about to be discarded) after inflation and pre-inflation explanation emerges.

And on and on and on it goes - history constantly repeats itself discarding what previousely "though to be" exclusive prerogative of various gods and their numerous "responsibilities".

And as always in place of totally unexplainable mysterious gods it was found explainable mathematical phenomena instead.
