Think about your statement:

"If time is infinite, an infinite amount of time must have passed before any event."

WHERE exactly do you see INFINITE amount of time PASSED before any event?

It is always FINITE time from ANY reference point on the INFINITE time line to ANY other point on it - regardless where you choose reference point to count time - in the past or future, or in the very distant past.

Say, lets take as a reference point to calculate time to be the biblical Creation of universe point, about 4000 BC. Then time passed before the present (2001 AD) is FINITE 6001 years, NOT INFINITE as you claim.

Same for ANY other event.

No infinities, and no logical contradiction here.
