The Fossile Record Is One Thing

Even though I don't believe in evolution, I have read a few things about the fossile record showing simple organisms as you go deeper, then gradually more complex fossils of species are discovered at shallower depths in the earth.

Of course I have never actually seen evidence of this, and I have read other books and articles that claim this isn't true(both sides have numerous sources).

There is also the issue of gaps in the fossil record.
