I mis-read your question before. And I do see what you are saying, which I can totally agree on. But saying 'what Christians have become' is saying the fault is in man, which I believe is. A Christian is a "follower of Christ", so this would be someone who does what Jesus told us, including obeying these laws, going door to door to preach the word, etc. The bible does refer to many false prophets and people claiming to be Jesus or have a relationship with him.

Just because someone claims to be Christian does not mean they actually are. Maybe they believe in a creator or Christian god, but this is no way makes them a follower of Christ.

I can see many accounts of people claiming to be Christian who don't love God with all their heart and soul.
