Richard David: There must be numerous planets in the universe where intelligent life has evolved. In doing so the lifeforms competed with one another most likely waging war in the process. War perhaps more than any other impetus fosters technical progress until inevitably each technical civilization developed fission and then fusion weapons. With these weapons we can commit suicide, if we so wish. And every other advanced civilization that ever developed on other planets most likely faced the same challenge. So we are living in the most important time of the history of the earth, at least the human history, the time when we decide if our species is to survive, for the means to end our species, or any other intelligent species are built into the structure of the universe. The time of peril has not passed. But we should be pleased that it's August. Greg: This is very perceptive Richard, however, it misses the mark by a narrow margin. The warning to be concerned with does not come from Nostradamus, but rather from Genesis. The Story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, is a warning concerning the impact of the use of our Knowledge. The Satan Aspect of the Tree of Knowledge concerns the detrimental use of our knowledge on Life and Creation. The God Aspect of the Tree of Knowledge concerns the Beneficial use of our knowledge on Life and Creation. Satan in the Tree of Knowledge can get us expelled from the Garden of Eden. Through Evolution, Earth is Perfect for us, no where else will ever be more so, so this IS Our Garden of Eden. Through our industrialization we are polluting the environment, and our advancing civilization puts a new species of Life on the endangered species list everyday. If this continues in this way, we risk our own extinction, and therefore our expulsion from the Garden of Eden. The only means to avert this consequence takes the form of Global Love, Peace, and Harmony. It may sound sappy, but only Global Co-operation will ease the strain on the environment. Universally, as every species of Life approaches space-faring technology, they will undergo similar involvements in industrialization, which will threaten their welfare, and thereby be lead to appreciate Love, Peace, and Harmony. So in all likelyhood, any species of Life that realizes a Universal Level of Civilization, will already be aware of the benefits of Peaceful Co-operative effort, as opposed to the waste of contention, which will be a good thing, because they will in all likelyhood be far in advance of ourselves technologically.
