If you know origin of natural laws (=from basic mathematical symmetries (invariances)) then you do not need Ra pushing Sun across the sky or Santa Clause rewarding good behavior and punishing evel (so to speak).

On the other hand, if you do not know where things come from (and majority does not), then you definitely need someone like Santa or Christ, Zeus or Ra (choice is up to personal taste).
