Hi Paul;
Most people pronounce it, "Yer-anus". Now I'm gonna break Johnny Carson's first rule of humor here, "Never disect a joke". There's no real "joke". When we tell people we can see Uranus, they all think they are funny,"Hey, stop looking my anus" or something along those lines. They all think they are so original and funny. I always say sarcastically in response, "Pretty funny, never heard that before!" The name change thing was joke I saw on a TV show. So changing the name to "Urectum" pronunced "Yer-rectum" doen't really solve the problem. Kind of looses something in the translation.
