It's NOT beside the point. Religion should be about truth (by which I mean objectivity), not happiness (by which I mean subjectivity), and that's exactly what religion ISN'T. Don't you think people's deepest rooted beliefs should be based more in objectivity, and therefor more reliable, or subjectivity, and therefor more prone to error?
